Asset Sonar · Enterprise Portable Asset Tool

One USB drive.
Every Windows endpoint.

Asset Sonar is built for enterprise IT teams that perform asset work on site. Insert the managed USB drive, run the tool as administrator, collect hardware and software information from the current Windows endpoint, review the employee fields, and synchronize the result to Snipe-IT—without installing a client on every computer.

On-site Workflow

From employee computer to Snipe-IT in three steps

The license follows the physical USB drive, so IT staff can carry one managed tool between authorized employee computers.

1. Insert the licensed USB

Run Asset Sonar as administrator from the physical USB drive. The launcher identifies Windows 7, 10 or 11 and selects the compatible runtime automatically.

2. Review and collect

Confirm the current employee fields, then collect the local operating system, processor, memory, disks, displays, peripherals and installed software.

3. Sync to Snipe-IT

Preview the collected result and synchronize it through the saved Snipe-IT profile and mappings. Failed items remain available for targeted retries.

One Portable Package

Windows 7, 10 and 11 in one managed package

The same USB package includes both Modern and Legacy runtimes. The launcher chooses the correct path for the current system while keeping configuration, mappings, license state and logs together on the USB drive.

  • Windows 7 SP1, Windows 10 and Windows 11
  • x86 and x64 endpoint support
  • Automatic Modern / Legacy runtime selection
  • Chinese and English interface
  • Full and incremental updates preserve operational data

Capabilities

Everything needed for portable endpoint inventory

Collection, review, synchronization, export, security management and updates are organized around the way enterprise IT staff actually work on site.

Endpoint hardware

Collects the operating system, mainboard, CPU, memory, disks, displays, network adapters and common peripherals from the computer currently connected to the USB drive.

Software and licenses

Inventories installed applications and supports software-license synchronization, giving IT a consistent record without installing a permanent agent.

Snipe-IT synchronization

Uses saved API settings, organization mappings, locations, departments, status labels and custom-field rules to create or update the correct records.

Portable USB operation

Enterprise configuration and operational records travel with the managed tool, giving IT staff one consistent workflow across employee computers.

Enterprise security

Authorization management, access controls and operational records help organizations manage product use and delivery in a consistent way.

Export and maintenance

Supports CSV, Excel and PDF export, targeted synchronization retries, operational logs, language switching, and verified full or incremental updates.

Audit Outcomes

One inventory, leaving results that can continue to be used

advances "scan completion" to "clear differences, clear destination, and follow-up traceability".

See the current situation clearly

summarizes device configuration, software installation and online status, establishes a time section for this inventory, and quickly discovers missing information, abnormal configurations and unregistered devices.

processing differences

distinguishes between new, updated, failed matching objects and objects that require manual confirmation. Teams can review differences before deciding to export, sync, or re-capture.

Retention basis

retains process clues through reports, operation records and failure lists, so that subsequent reviews, audit spot checks and the next round of inventory do not have to start from scratch.

Data & Operational Security

Enterprise data stays within a clear collection and synchronization boundary.

Endpoint information is collected and previewed locally. Data is sent to the configured enterprise Snipe-IT only when IT staff actively start synchronization. The product provides transport protection, access controls and operational records for field use.

  • Local collection with review before formal synchronization
  • HTTPS communication with configured enterprise services
  • Dedicated API accounts and least-privilege access are recommended
  • Update integrity and source are checked before installation
Built for Field IT

A practical fit for distributed Windows fleets

  • IT staff visit employee computers rather than deploying a permanent client
  • Windows 7, 10 and 11 coexist in the same organization
  • Snipe-IT organization, department and field mappings are already managed centrally
  • Some sites may temporarily lose internet access
  • A consistent, secure and traceable collection workflow is required
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does Asset Sonar need to be installed on every computer?
No. Asset Sonar runs directly from a managed enterprise USB drive. Administrator privileges are required to read complete hardware and system information.
Which Windows versions are supported?
The portable package supports Windows 7 SP1, Windows 10 and Windows 11 on x86 and x64 endpoints. The launcher selects the appropriate runtime automatically.
What endpoint information can be collected?
Asset Sonar can collect operating system, mainboard, processor, memory, disks, graphics, displays, network adapters, common peripherals and installed software. Available fields depend on the device and operating system.
Where is collected data sent?
Collection and preview happen locally. Data is sent through a secure connection to the configured enterprise Snipe-IT only when IT staff actively start synchronization.
Which asset platform is supported?
The current enterprise release is designed around Snipe-IT synchronization for assets, components, accessories and software licenses. CSV, Excel and PDF export are also supported.
How does Asset Sonar protect enterprise use?
Asset Sonar provides local collection, HTTPS transport, access controls, enterprise authorization management, operational records and update integrity checks. Organizations can further control access with dedicated API accounts and least-privilege policies.
